Why Choose Us
What makes our practice unique?
Our practice is unique in that every child who comes to our office for evaluation will be seen at every visit by one of our two board-certified pediatric pulmonologists. We will spend as much time as necessary to adequately asess your child – this typically means a full one-hour appointment for a new patient and a 30-minute visit for a follow-up.
We provide patient education (including most importantly for asthma) directly to patient/parent by ourselves (it is not provided by a non-physician).
We take pride in keeping down the cost of any visits to our office. You will never incur a “facility fee” as part of your visit. We are happy to provide you with free samples of many of the medications we prescribe (many of which can be quite expensive) right in our office.
Both of our physicians enjoyed successful careers in academic medicine before deciding they prefer to see patients full-time on a daily basis. Therefore they decided to go into private practice, and eventually established their own practice Rocky Mountain Pediatric Pulmonology, P.C., in 2007. However, they continue to enjoy teaching medical students and residents, who can often be seen rotating through the practice.
Both doctors consider themselves very aggressive in their approach to taking care of patients. For example, they aim for perfect control (no symptoms at all) in their patients with asthma. As a result, it is rare for one of their patients to require hospitalization once he/she comes under their care. They take great pride in keeping their patients out of the hospital and avoiding need for urgent MD or ER visits. This aggressive approach is not necessarily widespread, as inpatient wards are often filled with children with asthma during fall and winter, and many will require rehospitalization soon after discharge. They believe educating their patients and their families about their conditions, especially in the case of asthma, is vital to their success in caring for them.
We are recipients of multiple awards including the Patients’ Choice Award 2010 and 2011, and Compassionate Doctor Award (2010, 2011). We have been listed in 5280 Magazine Top Doctors issue as Best Pediatric Pulmonologist (2011), and among America’s Top Pediatricians (2011).
We accept all major and many minor insurances (including Medicaid) from Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska. Please call your insurance company if you need to verify whether your insurance is accepted.
